“Ting’s earlier works “Nostalgia series” were presented in a more daring, sharp and fierce color. She
blended the colors with textures from flowers, ash and shredded paper, projecting a strong emotion
on her work.” by editor writer by Elly Lai
Over the years Ting’s had moved from places to places especially during her teenage and early adulthood. This movement are very difficult for her at that time, because all the separation with friends and families. Thus in this series the urge to expressed the hidden feelings of nostalgia are strong! Feelings and Emotions occurred during separation with people who are close to me, which I think everyone had experience those feelings and emotions before but they are so intangible. Using materials that Ting’s collected along the way of this travelling: Roses from loved one, sea shell from a lovely beach in San Francisco mixed with newspaper , leaves, pigment, wax and resin etc. Emotionally outpour these hidden feelings of lost and sentimental nostalgia, reminiscing the past with people in my live and make the intangible visually and physically tangible.
