Together/Apart is a solo exhibition of collaborative photography by Santa Fe based photographer Natalie Christensen and British visual artist Jim Eyre.
These composite images of surreal cityscapes embody the disquieting experience of how our lives were transformed by the ravages of COVID-19.
This photographic collaboration took place during the lockdown period experienced during the global pandemic bringing fear, panic, isolation and loss amongst every community.
As we retreated from our daily routines and into our homes for an uncertain period, with no end in sight, we relied more than ever on the digital arena for human connection. We could no longer be in densely populated urban spaces, meeting friends and family or continuing our daily lives. In response to this imposed isolation, Christensen and Eyre created these hypnogogic landscapes to reflect upon the experience of roaming inside our smartphones in the time of coronavirus.
Expanding on their previous collaborative works in 2019 ALTEREDSTATES/ALTEREDSCAPES, Natalie Christensen and Jim Eyre are again combining photographs from their respective communities. Architectural fragments and elements of the landscape are mingled to present diverse psychological experiences of the pandemic.
The exhibition features nine images of an edition of 2. Each work is an archival natural pigmented print on dibond.
