Semblances of Thresholds & Boundaries
A Solo Gallery Exhibition of Photography by Natalie Christensen
Presented by the Nordic Art Agency in Collaboration with the Copenhagen Photo Festival 2021
June 3-30, 2021 | Nordic Art Agency, 211 48 Malmö, SwedenÂ
The Nordic Art Agency (NAA) is a Swedish based international art gallery collaborating with established and emerging artists, sculptors and photographers, sharing their work with the Scandinavian art market. Natalie Christensen joined the NAA in 2020 with her vibrant, abstract digital photography focusing on buildings and surroundings, transporting the banal nondescript suburban spaces into emotive and captivating narratives.
This year Natalie Christensen has been invited to join the Copenhagen PhotoFestival in their annual exposé of contemporary photographers. The NAA will be hosting a gallery exhibition of her photography which will run concurrently with the festival. Nine images have been selected to be shown in this solo exhibition and visitors from Denmark and Sweden will be able to view the exhibition between the 3rd – 30th June at the NAA Malmö gallery.
An Evening with Natalie Christensen will also be hosted at the gallery, a virtual and physical event, where we shall be in conversation with the photographer live from Santa Fe. We hope the event will be an opportunity to hear more about Christensen’s artistic practice and the modus behind her images.
A live stream will be held on the 18th of June, as due to the pandemic the event is limited to eight gallery attendees. The event will be hosted online and will later be made available to view on the NAA and Copenhagen Photo Festival website.
Semblances of Thresholds & Boundaries will feature images from two bodies of work by Christensen; Last Night I Dreamt How To Swim and The Deconstructed Self. The selected images hope to present a rich and engaging introduction into the use of symbolism, shape, line and shadow which present the psychological metaphors found in the environments presented in Christensen’s photography.
The Nordic Art Agency Podcast has recently interviewed Natalie Christensen about her photography and artist’s  journey. The podcast is now available to download from all podcast platforms or from the NAA website.Â
