How loud do you have to be to be seen? How quiet do you have to be to be invisible? Otto Drögsler and Jörg Ehrlich, the designer duo behind ODEEH, revolve around these questions fashionably every season. Also for the spring/summer collection 2024, which they presented again as part of Berlin Contemporary. "The next chapter" is the name of the exceedingly eclectic ready-to-wear, which consists of an impressive 220 designs and 52 looks. The inspiration comes from a multitude of encounters. Colors, moods and silhouettes are carefully curated to give the collection its signature ODEEH personality: "confident, flamboyant, free-spirited and, above all, curious," as the duo describes it. The collection was just as versatile: besides an oversized vest with matching skirt in open denim fibers, to a shirt-blouse dress with 60ies floral pattern and acid bleach pleated skirt. A newly constructed shirt blouse dress in a kimono silhouette, or a pink sheer midi dress with delicate silver floral embroidery. At times looks seem restrained, citing a bygone decade, and at other times are spirited and bold.
Typical ODEEH is also the eclectic use of different prints - from abstract flowers to beach scenes - and the mix of flowing and straight silhouettes, as well as the play with different materials. In line with the ODEEH philosophy, the focus is carefully on each of the garments, all of which are created with great attention to detail, attention and energy in the studio tradition. For the brand makers, this season is also not about imposing a predefined look on wearers:inside, but to offer the greatest possible freedom for self-development: "Our personal drive to make fashion lies in making our very own contribution to the present. With our designs, we want to attract people and make them more visually interesting and, above all, more visible," say the designers. Particularly beautiful, contrasting and fitting to the collection, ODEEH F/S 2024 was shown at the James Simon Gallery.
ABOUT ODEEH
With their label ODEEH Otto Drögsler & Jörg Ehrlich stand for a now rare atelier tradition since 2008. Dealing creatively with the different tempers brings the special tension and complexity to the collections. Be it regarding the silhouettes or the range of the materials. ODEEH. Brave. Creative. Eclectic. Sometimes casual. Elegant, occasionally formal and strict. Playing with extreme silhouettes, creating a tension between traditional and experimental tailoring. The manufacturing and compilation deliberately break with this elegance. From the first pencil stroke to the delivery only specialists work on ODEEH, beginning with the best weavers & silk printers of northern Italy to the production in German manufactures and master enterprises. This conscious anti-industrialism once more reflects ODEEH's underlying sophisticated principle.
