Galleria Duemila recently celebrated the opening of the joint exhibition featuring the visionary works of Mervy Pueblo and Noell EL Farol. The event featured the artist talk, where Mervy Pueblo and Noell El Farol took center stage to unravel the inspiration and stories behind their creations. The duo provided a captivating insight into the conception of their exhibition, sharing the journey from initial ideation to the culmination of their artistic vision. EL Farol, known for his evocative use of color and texture, discussed the intricate details of his pieces within the Cosmographia series. Pueblo, on the other hand, offered a glimpse into the narrative depth of Karakoa Journeys, emphasizing the significance of storytelling in her art.
The exhibition will be on display at Galleria Duemila until January 31, 2024, inviting art enthusiasts to continue their journey through the rich tapestry of Mervy Pueblo and Noell El Farol's collective vision.
Mervy Pueblo holds an MFA degree in Visual Studies with a focus on Public Art and sculpture from the Minneapolis College of Arts and Design in the USA, where she also earned MA units in Art Education. She previously obtained a BFA degree in Advertising from St. Scholastica’s College in Manila, Philippines. Pueblo has showcased her work in various solo exhibitions, including Karakoa Journey’s: From Past to Present at the Nakanojo Museum of Folk and History in Japan. She has participated in juried and group exhibitions globally, such as the Marciano Galang Awards, Art Fair Philippines, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Thirteen Artist Awards. Pueblo's art often reflects social, political, and feminist themes. Her diverse portfolio spans different mediums and has been featured in galleries in the Philippines, Japan, the USA, and France. Pueblo's work has received recognition and has been part of prestigious exhibitions, contributing to the vibrant landscape of contemporary art.
Noëll EL Farol is an accomplished Filipino artist with a diverse educational background, having studied at institutions such as the University of the Philippines Diliman, Shizuoka University in Japan, the University of Santo Tomas, The Philippine Women’s University, and the Technological University of the Philippines. EL Farol has held numerous solo exhibitions globally, showcasing his artistic evolution. His works span various mediums, including paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures. Notable solo exhibitions include "Analogue Index" at the Kansuke Naka Literary Museum in Japan and "Field Notes" at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Gallery in Manila. EL Farol has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, earning accolades such as the Metrobank Foundation Prize for Achievement in Sculpture in 2009 and being shortlisted in the Bonifacio Art Foundation Public Sculpture Project in 2011. His extensive career demonstrates a commitment to artistic exploration and a significant impact on the Filipino art scene.
