About the Artist
Liu Gongjie is an interdisciplinary artist living in London. Previously an award-winning industrial designer.
A graduate of Central Saint Martins MA Material futures, Liu Gongjie's work focuses on the impact of digital technology on our daily lives, and builds critical discussions from a sociological perspective, by creating a series of video, installation, and stage art works after discussion Humanism, organicism, and related issues of material culture. His work looks forward to uncovering the human spirit behind technology in the age of algorithms for the public.
Liu Gongjie has studied at the University of Florence, the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, the polimoda Fashion Institute and the Asian University in Taiwan, China, and his works have won the Red Dot Award, the IF Design Award, and the A-design Award. The artist has exhibited his works nationally and internationally. Most recently his experimental dance drama was exhibited at Dutch Design Week 2021.
