"Dressed for Disaster" is the title of the AW23 ready-to-wear collection from the Copenhagen-based fashion and upcycling brand (di)vision. The collection takes deep inspiration from end-nineties disaster culture and contrasting kawaii y2k culture, the AW23 collection portrays how contemporary fashion could look in that era.
(di)vision has always been known for its focus on contrasts and the AW23 runway collection is no exception. The origin idea for the AW23 runway show was “the train wreck Woodstock 1999 festival meets the Met Gala”. The culmination of the collection was showcased at the ballrooms of the majestic Josty, in Frederiksberg garden in Copenhagen with a destroyed set design looking and feeling like the day after a party end-nineties teenagers would have attended to. With live jazz quartet beautifully portraying the biggest smash rock hits from that era such as Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park in contrasting jazz covers.
The runway show is made in collaboration with digital insurance company Hedvig, known for their lifestyle approach. A perfect match for the “Dressed to Disaster” AW23 show, which is about making the most out of your living days, or die regretting. This approach can be translated into celebrating everyday objects that have a story of living life to its fullest. Furthermore, the two brands have collaborated on creating unique and exclusive pieces made from the wine-stained tablecloth, which will turn into a capsule collection after the show.
All the shoes worn in the show are made in collaboration with Asics which (di)vision have up-cycled with an DIY aesthetic to create around 25 unique pairs which will be sold through Danish sneaker retailer Naked after the show, with all profits going to charity.
The runway show is a mix of (di)visions pre-fall and fall 23 collection and as always the collection consists primarily of deadstock fabrics but also recycled cottons, natural wools and up-cycled vintage products.
